Ròm wins Best Film at the BIFF

Amidst the controversy surrounding the film, Ròm has won Best Film at the Busan International Film Festival, in the New Currents section, which presents first or second long feature films by young directors.
The award is shared with Mahamed Hayal’s Haifa Street

Headed by British director Mike Figgis, the New Currents jury said that “the use of real, live locations in Ròm impressed the jury greatly and that the ending was very satisfying.”
The jury praised Haifa Street as “a mature, grown up movie” made by a director that “exhibited a confidence and understanding of cinema language which set the film apart.”

For first time director Trần Thanh Huy, this award is the crowning of 7 years of hard work, perseverance, passion and commitment.
