Edmund Yeo‘s new long feature, adapted from a novella of the same name by Banana Yoshimoto, will be released nationwide in Japan on September 10, 2021.
The film stars Nana Komatsu and Hio Myiazawa in the lead roles, with Himi Sato, Nana Nakahara and Asami Usuda in the supporting cast.
Moonlight Shadow ムーンライト・シャドウ received the blessing from Banana Yoshimoto who loved how Edmund Yeo translated her book into film, she said of the music that it “made the European-style cinematography even more beautiful and elegant without ever sentimentalizing the film”.
