The Dream of the Swan, a new collaboration between Jo Kanamori and An Ton That will be premiered this December on the 15th and 17th at the Ryutopia Performing Arts Center as a second part of the NINA performances by Noism.
The piece will be a solo for Jo Kanamori’s wife, Sawako Iseki, who was the principle dancer for most of the works created for Noism, including the three Kanamori-Ton That collaborations: NINA – materialise sacrifice (2005), PLAY 2 PLAY (2007 – 2013) and Les Contes d’Hoffmann (2010).
The Dream of the Swan was originally composed under the title The Captive Queen, an aborted collaboration with Kanamori in 2013. The music has then been reworked and reorchestrated for an art installation by Hong Kong artist Wong Siu Yung and then revised again for this new dance creation.
The music features long time music companion Isabelle Thomas (soprano), Christophe Boissière and Emily Chang (cellos).
