Tôn Thất An produces one song for Bévinda’s new album Gêmeos

“Il est presque minuit, je ne dors pas. Mon frère jumeau Manuel me dit: « Tu ne m’as jamais écrit de chanson ». Cet album est pour lui, je ne l’ai connu que neuf mois et quinze jours, mais il est toujours présent à mes cotés, il est pour mes chers amours et amis disparus trop tôt, trop jeunes. Il n’est pas triste non, nostalgique oui, même quand ça tourbillonne et que ça danse. Il est pour vous!”

It’s almost midnight and I can’t sleep. My twin brother Manuel says to me: ‘You’ve never written me a song’. This album is for him, I only knew him for nine months and fifteen days, but he’s always there by my side, it’s for my beloved ones and friends who died too soon, too young. The album is not sad, no. It’s nostalgic, yes, even when the music is swirling and dancing.
It’s for you!

Bévinda

After more than two decades making music together for various projects, performing on stage, and co-writing their forthcoming collaborative album Fukaeri, French-Portuguese singer-songwriter Bévinda has finally asked Tôn Thất An to produce a song for her, the titular Gêmeos, which was written for her twin brother Manuel who passed away still an infant.
From a simple melody that Bévinda wrote on her piano, Tôn Thất created a piano-laden seven-minute tone poem augmented by haunting cello phrases, that brings each new verse to dream-like dimension, perhaps, where Manuel is dwelling…

Gêmeos is out on February 29, 2024
