New Film: Ròm

Tôn Thất An has just finished the composition of the score for Ròm, a feature film from Vietnam by first-time director Trần Thanh Huy.
The story evolves around a young teenage boy named Ròm who lives in the slums of Saigon, and whose main activity is to place lottery bets for the neighborhood. His aim is to collect enough money to trace his parents, who left him years ago. Ròm has a friend and rival who has the same ‘job’…
The film took a few years to be completed. Recording and sound mixing took place in Paris.
For the score, Tôn Thất An has assembled musicians from Paris, Taiwan and Hong Kong, most of whom he has already collaborated with: Franco Maigue (guitar), Portuguese singer Bévinda, Keith Lee (guzheng), Allen Wu (hand drum & percussion), Vanessa Sanfilippo (prepared piano) and Allen Yeh (erhu).

Ròm is presented by director Trần Anh Hùng, who supported the film and helped bring it to fruition.
