Spring X | Premiere in Hong Kong by Contrast Trio

Hong Kong based saxophone player Timothy Sun and his trio Contrast will premiere Spring X [I hear and I forget] a new work for saxophone, violin and piano by Vietnamese composer An Ton That. The concert will take place at the Hong Kong City Hall, on February 21, 2015.

“The piece is about my mother’s loss of memory, but also how at a certain stage of one’s life, time doesn’t mean the same thing anymore. It’s no longer linear. It’s all happening at once. The memories become alive again, and what has never been suddenly seems to be taking place. The line between real and unreal, past and present become indefinite. Maybe that’s how I perceive it, how I constantly jump from one dimension to another, to the point where everything just becomes one – or nothing.”
